Ag Tour 2018

Ag Tour 2018
Monday, August 20, 2018-Rain or Shine!
Presented by the Chamber Agri-Business Committee

We are committed to providing educational opportunities to area residents in regard to agriculture and related topics.  Join us for a charter bus tour to Hardin County and learn more about operations right here in our area!

Our first stop will be Natural Choice Dairy Farm.  This operation consists of about 4000 dairy cows.  We will tour the farm and learn about the daily operation of the facility.

Our second stop is Lean Value Sires a family operation of livestock breeders established in 1992.  Their boar stud operation provides quality genetics for the show pig industry.  The tour will visit the farm which includes their selection of championship boars.

After lunch we will visit Ravenhurst Champagne Cellars, award-winning winemakers dedicated to traditional methode champenoise champagne and hand-crafted wines, made from estate-grown vinifera grapes. The owners will share why they picked this particular location in regard to the climate and conditions the area provides.  Wine tasting available for an additional fee.

The final stop on our tour will be at the Kurt Family Farm.  The farm is 470 acres of corn and soybeans.  The family has committed 168 acres to the Blanchard River Demonstration Farms Network. The BRDFN is designed to showcase leading edge conservation practices to improve Great Lakes water quality.

Tickets are $20 and include lunch at The Plaza Inn.
