Findlay·Hancock County Chamber Agri-Business Committee Awards Scholarships

The Findlay·Hancock County Chamber Agri-Business Committee has awarded nine $500 scholarships with funds raised from their annual Farmers Share Breakfast and Fresh Whole Hog Sausage Distribution.

Scholarships are awarded to area students who are planning to, or already pursuing, a career in an agriculturally related field. To date, over $51,000 has been awarded to area students.

Scholarship recipients are: Kylee Desgranges, Cory Rawson High School, who plans to attend The Ohio State University ATI majoring in Ag Commerce to pursue a career in an agricultural business; Katyann Graham, Arcadia High School, who plans to attend either Iowa State University or The University of Findlay majoring in Animal Science to become a large animal veterinarian;  Aubrey Jones, Cory Rawson High School, who plans to attend The Ohio State University ATI and major in Agri Business with the goal of running her own business related to agriculture; Bailey Switzer, Arcadia  High School, who plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University majoring in Agri Business, with an interest in small to medium farm operations including equine science; and  Logan Young,  Liberty Benton High School, attending Purdue University Ag College or Trine University majoring in Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering with the goal of  playing a key role in sustainability efforts involving the food supply.

Current college students were also selected to receive scholarships.  The recipients are:  Michaela Breece, currently a freshman attending the University of Findlay majoring in Animal Science and Biology with the goal of receiving her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine; Jesse Eckert, currently a junior attending The Ohio State University majoring in Culinary Science whose goal is to be a development chef for a large corporation; Tyler Harris, currently a junior attending The Ohio State University majoring in Agri Business and Applied Economics, who will pursue a job in an agricultural field and continue his work on the family farm; and Katelyn McCoy, currently a freshman attending Brown Mackie College majoring in Veterinary Technology, specializing in managing large animals in a clinical environment.
